    POLICY STATEMENT

As a public institution of higher education, Delgado Community College is responsible to
operate within the rules and regulations set forth by its governing board, the Board of Supervisors
for the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS), and the state-wide board for
higher education, the Louisiana Board of Regents, as well as all federal, state, and local laws. To
accomplish this, the College employs the use of legal counsel on relevant matters as deemed
    appropriate.

The College generally engages the LCTCS Board’s authorized attorney unless an outside
agency (including, but not limited to, the State of Louisiana Attorney General’s Office) is within its
jurisdiction to assign other legal counsel on behalf of the College. In some extraordinary cases, the
Chancellor may provide justification to the LCTCS Board to use legal counsel other than the
    authorized attorney for the Board.

All legal assistance and counsel for the College is coordinated through the Assistant Vice
Chancellor for Human Resources. The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources is
designated by the Chancellor to handle all communication with the College's legal counsel and to
authorize other senior administrators to communicate with legal counsel as needed.
