TITLE:   Procedures for Handling Card Access System Malfunction

PROCEDURES & SPECIFIC INFORMATION

 

1.   Purpose:

To establish procedures for providing essential personnel and/or external vendor assistance upon malfunction of components of the card access system.

 

2.  Scope and Authority:

This procedure applies to all Maintenance and Police Department personnel who have responsibility in the operation and/or maintenance of the card access system.

 

3.  Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Technician has primary responsibility for implementing and execution of these procedures; the Maintenance Superintendent ensures the procedures are completed.

 

4.  Procedures

 

1.  Upon discovery of a malfunctioning card access system, the person discovering the      discrepancy must contact the Maintenance Department at (504) 483-4210 to report the      nature and location of the problem.

 

2.  The responding Maintenance Department technician will verify by process of elimination  and troubleshooting whether the problem consists of mechanical, electrical or electronic  malfunction.

 

3.  Upon identification of the problem conditions, the responding technician will attempt to determine the malfunction and take the appropriate action to make the repairs. If repairs are card access related, then the responding technician will contact Siemens Building Technologies at (504) 466-9300 and request a service call.


 

4.  During normal working hours, the Delgado Police Department will report malfunction to the Maintenance Dispatcher at (504) 483-4210. For card access system malfunction during other than normal working hours, the Delgado Police Department will secure doors with mechanical locks. If doors are unable to be secured during other than normal working hours, the Delgado Police Department will report the malfunction to the Maintenance Manager and/or the Director of Facilities Planning at the following
