Meeting called to order on October 25, 2004 at 2:15 p.m. by Chairperson Cathy Sarrazin.

I.   Welcome

 

·   The committee on Data Standards and Integrity expressed their appreciation and recognized Dr. Sippola for her efforts in supporting this committee. The refreshments provided at this meeting were sent courtesy of Dr. Sippola.

 


II.   Review Minutes

 

·   The minutes of the October 12, 2004 meeting were reviewed and approved on motion of Tina Hunter.

 

 


III.   Data Standards Document Organization

 

·   Cathy Sarrazin, Chairperson, presented the first draft of the data standards document to the whole committee. This draft proposed a structure to organize the standards. The membership reviewed and discussed the recommended changes as outlined in the agenda.

 

 


IV.   New Business

·   Document Text Review and Approval- The membership reviewed and discussed the Introduction, Privacy, Ethics, Security, Confidentiality and Deceased Persons sections. Several corrections and additions were noted.

 

·   Document Approval- The full committee accepted the revised Data Standards draft on motion of Tina Hunter.  

 

·   Team Leader Approval- Dr. Sippola recommended that the Data Standards committee submit a copy of this document to the Team Leaders meeting for review at the meeting on October 29, 2004.

 

·   Round-Table Discussion - Cathy Sarrazin, Chairperson, would be interested in feedback from the Banner conversion team on the first Data Standards draft and proposed a round-table discussion. The data entry process and the data standards will need to be assessed by this committee periodically to determine if the Data Standards document supports the objectives.

Tina Hunter, Report Codes Chair, stated that the committee is examining all special forms to assure that these documents comply with Banner Data Standards policy. The forms will be integrated into Banner through Evisions® software.

The membership recognized a need to include Non-person name standards for vendors before the finance and purchasing modules are launched.

 

 


V.   Announcements

 

·   The Banner Training Lab and Conference room located in Building 2 is now complete.

 

·   The meetings scheduled for November 3 and 8, 2004 have been canceled.
