I. Call to Order
Curriculum Committee Meeting was called to order at 2:04 p.m. by Harold Gaspard, Chairman.

III. Minutes of Meeting – March 11, 2005
The Minutes of the meeting of March 11, were moved for acceptance.
IV. Debbie Lea’s Report
Items recommended at the last meeting had been approved by the Vice Chancellor for Learning and Student Development, Dr. Jeffery Smith.
V. New Business
a) Science and Math/CHEM
Course Revision:
Change in Course prerequisites for CHEM 142 and CHEM 144 to include “with a ‘C’ or better in CHEM 141 and CHEM 143” [Mary Bartholomew/Mary Ellen Logan] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
b) Business, Mathematics and Technology/BUSG
New Course:
BUSG 140 Principles of Bank Operations [Leroy Kendrick/Sonya Taylor] Motion to table to the next meeting.
c) Liberal Arts/CRJU
Program Revision:
Add new course offering CRJU/SOCI 270 as a CRJU elective in CRJU program. [Mary Ellen Logan/Mary Bartholomew] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
d) Business and Technology/ACCT
Program Revision:
Under approved electives in the Accounting Program, delete the parenthetical phrase “(ACCT 212 or higher).” [Mary Bartholomew/Mary Ellen Logan] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
e) Business and Technology/INSU
Business, Mathematics and Technology
i. New Course:
INSU 101 Introduction to Insurance [Mary Bartholomew/Estella Lain] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
ii. New Course:
INSU 103 Insurance Office Process Simulation [Mary Bartholomew/Estella Lain] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
iii. Program Revision:
Add the prefix “INSU” to the list of prefixes for the Approved Electives in the Administrative Office Technology program [Leroy Kendrick/Sheila Hickman] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
f) Allied Health
Removal of Prerequisites for the following courses:
DIET 208 Institutional Foods for Health Care
Current Prerequisite: CULA 214 Supervision [Mary Bartholomew/Debra Redfearn] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
DIET 220 Computer Systems in Dietetics
Current Prerequisite: CMIN 201 Computer Literacy [Mary Bartholomew/Debra Redfearn] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
g) Business and Technology
1) Course Revision:
Add new CIVT 100 Elementary Surveying
Delete CIVT 102 Elementary Surveying Laboratory [Mary Bartholomew/Debra Redfearn] Motion to accept proposal pending adjustments to syllabus. Motion carried unanimously.
2) New Program:
a. Approval of Program Description in Fire Science Technology [Sallye Raymond/Debra Redfearn] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
b. Approval of Curriculum for the new Certificate of Technical Studies in Fire Science Technology. [Sallye Raymond/Debra Redfearn] Motion to accept proposal with revisions. Motion carried unanimously.
c. Remove MATH 114 as prerequisite for FPTC 250 [Mary Ellen Logan/Debra Redfearn] Motion to accept proposal as amended. Motion carried unanimously.
h) Workforce Development and Education
New Program Concept:
The telecommunications Technician Certificate Program is a thirty-three credit hour program. [Lester Adelsberg/Mary Ellen Logan] Motion to accept proposal. Motion carried unanimously.
