ENROLLMENT TERMS

 

Enrollments – A sum of the number of students enrolled in a given course or section. Since individual students may be enrolled in more than on section or course, they may be duplicated in any summary counts. Unduplicated counts are called Unduplicated Headcounts.

 

Full-time students – Students who are enrolled in 12 or more credit hours of courses in a semester are classified as full-time.

 

Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) – Full-time equivalent students equates student course taking as if all of the activity were being generated by full-time students. FTE is calculated as the number of total semester credit hours divided by 15.

 

Part-time students – Students who are enrolled in less than 12 credit hours of course in a semester are classified as part-time.

 

Unduplicated Headcount – a count of the number of students enrolled according to specified criteria with each individual student only counted once.

 


COURSE RELATED TERMS

 

Distance Learning – Courses utilizing methods of delivery other than on-campus classroom instruction such as: telecourses, internet, and interactive-video.

 

Contact Hours – A measure of time that a student spends in a class or in contact with a faculty member, such as a lab. Contact hours are based primarily on an estimate of clock hours spent in instructional activities.

 

Student Credit Hour (SCH) - Student credit hours are the units of credit students earn for the course in which they are enrolled for a given term. A typical class meeting three hours per week counts as three semester credit hours.

 

 


STUDENT DESCRIPTORS

 

First-Time-In-College (FTIC) First-time-in-college students are students who enter the college having never attended college previously at this or any other institution. The term First-Time Freshman (FTF) may also be used.

 

Cohort – A group of students who can be identified as starting their education at the same time or any other like grouping, such as all students who enrolled in pilot course in the same semester.

 

Leaver or Non-completer – A student who leaves Delgado without completing a degree or certificate.

 

Preparatory Student – A student who is concurrently enrolled in high school. These students are also referred to as Tech-Prep students.
